Conversation with Eve

Katie and I want to take a dream vacation to Brazil, but we disagree on whether the kids should come or not. Katie wants them to come, I think they won't appreciate it.

Anyway, Eve walks into the room, and here's the conversation.

Katie: Eve, do you want to go on a big trip to Brazil?

Eve: No. I just want to go to the car wash.

Katie: (Laughing) Well, I guess that settles it.

What do y'all think? Should the kids come on the Brazil trip?

  1. I agree with Katie. Your kids are too young to remember much from that big of a trip. Angela remembers a little from going to Panama, but we were there 2 months. She was 6 years old at the time. if you want to take them, wait until they're at least 5-10 years older, and then, go and stay for at least a couple months.

  3. I was trying to get them an amazing cultural experience. And they'd rather go to the car wash.

  4. I'd say either wait til they're older and would remember, or go just the two of you for a nice second (or 3rd, 4th, 5th, whatever) honeymoon.

  5. I agree with what has been said. Wait till they're older and can learn from it, or don't take them at all. Plus there are things you can do as just adults that the kids wouldn't like. I always like to go to historical sites and museams, but the kids don't appreciate that sort of thing.

  6. We sure missed our kids in Ireland. And we found ourselves making lots of plans for what we'll do with them when they're 10 and 12. But they wouldn't have appreciated it -- except this cool playground and one ancient fort where little kids were climbing all over the walls. Two things in 17 days. Not worth dragging them through the torrential rain at Giant's Causeway, or forcing them to sit through Les Miserables, or, like, watching them fall 1000 feet into the sea off the Cliffs of Moher.

  7. AMEN!! Don't take them til they're much older! Or that's a lot of money spent on something they honestly won't remember.
